Final THRIVE
Last night felt
like a dream. It was the final THRIVE event I’d ever be a part of as a student.
Three years ago my best friend and I started this in hopes that the name of
Jesus would be lifted on the campus of Christopher Newport University in unity
like Jesus prayed for in John 17. Last night was such a sweet taste of that.
On July 16th,
2016 a group known as Together 16 is calling of a mass gathering of one million
people on the national mall of DC in the name of Jesus. They have been doing a
national campus tour and partnered with THRIVE for our final event. Our final
event of the year was held on the Great Lawn- outside in the very heart of our
campus; something that people have been praying to see happen for the past
several years. A week ago the weather was calling for rain on the day of THRIVE
but we understood that our God is the creator and director of the weather so we
prayed every day for good weather. 60s and sunny became the forecast setting up
a beautiful night of worship.
What was so
amazing about this night was the fact that worship washed over the campus of
Christopher Newport University. The sound flooded across the great lawn,
echoing through the library, gracing the different forms, and touching the
neighborhoods that surround it. While I understand that some might have been
annoyed with the noise interfering with what they might have been doing at that
time, I cannot say I have any regret of it. How He Loves echoed through our
campus and all got to hear the Gospel as it was sung out through the Body
gathered in the name of Jesus.
I believe God is
going to continue to revive this campus. That all truly could come together in
complete unity under the name of Jesus and that by this the world will know how
loved they really are by the Savior of this WORLD.
Last night felt
like a dream… but it was a reality. May all of the glory forever be to the One
who is worthy of it, thank you Jesus.
