Sharing the Pilgrimage

Last night a crew from CNU and I went to Virginia Wesleyan to lead them in some worship and give a word. It was so neat how God completely orchestrated the event. Long story short my friend Gabe and some others have been leading worship nights weekly on their campus. What is so wild is that they were inspired by THRIVE on CNU’s campus and started their own sort of deal on their campus- so amazing! Last Monday I was praying for their night of worship and really felt like God wanted me and a few others to throw down with them the following week. I hit up Gabe and shared with him what I felt God put on my heart and told him we’d be willing to serve them however we could. He asked if we would lead worship and if I would give a word on what it means to follow God with all of your heart.

Right before the event Gabe and I went around the campus to invite anyone and everyone to worship with us. What was hilarious is that a group was putting on a fashion show runway in one of the main rooms on campus and a crowd was gathered. I saw a mic nearby and figured why not ask them if I could borrow it really quick and make an announcement to the entire room. To my complete surprise they said I could… I don’t think they realized who they said yes to. I turned that mic on and told everyone what was good for the night and encouraged them to join us after their event. So fun, I love mics…

So worship got rolling and roughly 50 or so students came out which is incredible considering the school size is only 1400. As soon as we started I saw a kid on crutches limping over to us and I decided to meet him half way. I learned that his name was Charlie and I asked him what had happened to him. He told me that he severely sprained his ankle and couldn’t put pressure on it at all. I then asked him if it was okay if my friend John and I prayed for him. He said yes and we laid our hands on his ankle and started praying for healing… after a few minutes we asked if he would test it out and try to walk around. He started walking around and goes “Oh.. my.. holy crap!!!” HIS ANKLE GOT HEALED!!! I freaked out and could hardly believe it if I’m honest but God HEALED Charlie’s ankle and he didn’t need the crutches anymore. The first thing he did was call his mom which I absolutely loved. God was only just getting started.

Getting to speak to these students was something else. In fact, mid-way through I ditched my notes because I felt like God had a whole new message for everyone to hear. He told me that some students needed to recommit their lives to God, some needed to be empowered and reminded of who they are in Christ, and that all need to be commissioned to KNOW that they are SO capable to completely flip their campus for Christ! As I was finishing my talk I urged every student to RESPOND to what God was speaking to them during all of what I said. As soon as we finished several students approached our prayer team and GAVE THEIR LIVES TO JESUS!!! We got to pray over SO many students and more healings broke out and God was giving us so many words of knowledge over them! The students couldn’t believe what was happening but it was ALL because God CARES so much about them and EVERY part of their life!

What is wild is I only know what I witnessed that night. God did SO MUCH MORE than just what I was able to be a part of. Even wilder, this is what normally Christianity looks like. Seriously, Jesus tells us in John 14:12 that “ANYONE” who believes in me will do the works that I have been doing and even greater than these.” God is doing this all over the place to those who are saying yes to him and I am SO GLAD to play a small part in that.
